My friend is afraid of horses. In fact, he’s deathly afraid. When we pass by farms when we’re driving, he gets a nervous look on his face and keeps staring forward. Since our friend group is full of mature 20 year olds, we decided to use this information to pull a practical joke on him. It was probably the last one we’ve played.
We decided to all pitch in and buy a horse spare tire cover to put on his Jeep while he was at class. When he came back, he saw the tire cover and nearly had an emotional breakdown. We took the cover off, but he refused to talk to any of us for an entire week. We realized then that he wasn’t just a little bit scared of horses.
My parents decided they were going to get me a car when I was old enough but it came with a catch — I had to share with my sister. We both agreed that we wanted a Jeep, but that’s about the last thing we could agree on. Every accessory, who should put gas in, and what radio stations should be programmed in our top 5 were a constant argument.
We had to find a cover for our Jeep spare tire. My sister was insistent we had to have a winking smiley face, but I liked the look of the solid colors, with my heart set on purple. Finally, we decided to just each get on and switch it out every time one of us was driving. It might have taken a few minutes before we drove, but it was better than yelling over a tire.
No matter what type of personality you have, it’s not too hard to express yourself with your vehicle. While you may not want to write your exact thoughts on a bumper sticker, or you might not have a specific cause to promote, there are still small ways that you can incorporate the things you enjoy when adding accessories to your car.
If you have a more “hippie” style, buying a Jeep peace sign tire cover is a smaller way to let everyone know. If you have a favorite sports team or love the college you went to, there are small decals you can put in one of your windows. For those looking to upgrade their interior, there are car seats and steering wheel covers in different colors, patterns and even cartoon themed.
Many of us fall victim to our own cynicism on a regular basis. While things happen in our lives that are sure to bring you down, it’s often your own attitude that will decide whether a given day will be a good or bad one. Instead of allowing bad events to turn your day bad, take note of the small good things you experience throughout your day.
The good things don’t have to be large events. You can appreciate the barista that took the time to draw a flower on your Starbucks cup. You can even take time to smile at smiley face tire covers on Jeeps. For the days you can’t seem to find something small and positive, make a kind gesture to a stranger. Remember that you have the ability to be a small reason to smile for someone else.
After college, you could end up anywhere. Some people will choose to move back home with their parents to save on costs. However, there are students who graduate and get a job offer somewhere far away. This can be a hard move to make. While it’s hard to turn down a job offer in this economy, it won’t be long before you get homesick while living in a whole new area.
Having small reminders of home can be helpful. Getting k-cups from your favorite local coffee shop, or a bag of beans if they don’t have the cups, can be a small way to get a taste of home in the morning. If you were on the football team, don’t throw out your NCAA Auburn tigers tire cover. There is no reason you have to give up your home pride when you move out.
No matter where you went to college, it’s important to show off your pride. Whether or not you feel a deep connection to the school, you put a lot of money and time into getting that degree. It only makes sense to show off your accomplishment and investment. You might not want to show up to the office wearing a sweatshirt with your school mascot across the front, but there are simpler ways to have school pride.
Your vehicle is the easiest way to display your school pride without going over the top. If you went to Florida State, you can have a Seminoles decal in the window. If you went to Penn State, you can put the lion on your car with a simple bumper sticker. All of these stickers and decals come at an affordable price.
Not all tire covers are made equal. While most people think of kooky designs and sayings on the back of a Jeep when they hear tire cover, it’s actually a very important purchase to keep your spare tire in the best condition. However, a lot of people don’t know what to look for or what makes one cover better than the next.
For those who are crafty, you might even want to sew your own to get the best solid black spare tire cover. The most important aspect is what type of material is being used. If the material is not durable, there isn’t a point in even having the cover. The biggest function of having a cover is to aid against weathering and regular wear and tear.
Anyone who originates from the Windy City has a lot to be proud of. While many cities have festivals and other activities on an annual basis, Chicago is the home of the world’s largest free outdoor food festival, The Taste of Chicago. New York City might be known as the melting pot, but it’s difficult to find anything to do in the city that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, let alone that is free to attend.
Chicago also has plenty of art to boast about. The Art Institute of Chicago has the largest collection of Impressionist paintings other than the Louvre in Paris. NBC is also based out of the city, the station that is known for being the birthplace of TV soap operas. The city holds many other records and firsts, making residents proud to show off their Chicago Cubs tire cover and other identifiers that showcase their residency.
I’ve always been a big NFL fan but one of my favorite aspects of the NFL is the draft. I love guessing which players are going to get picked by which teams and who’s going to be picked in what round. Because of my love for the draft, I tend to follow college football pretty closely as well, to the point where I love it almost as much as I love professional football.
It’s actually gotten to the point where I feel like I have more time to watch college football than I do to watch professional games. I’ve even picked up some NCAA tire covers for my favorite college teams. I’m always interested in following the players and seeing where they go; I really enjoy the process of moving from amateur to professional.
