I’ve been battling gender stereotypes since I was a child. I used to hate dresses, pink, and anything remotely doll like. I used to steal my brothers science set and spend my days out in the woods setting up camp like an explorer out in the wilderness. I’ve always been interested in more masculine pursuits, including extreme sports, fixing cars, and shooting guns.
That’s why I love my Silly Boys Jeeps Are For Girls tire cover. It speaks to my individual personality and how I don’t live by typical American stereotypes. I take my jeep out on some serious terrain tracks and I always get looks of surprise from fellow drivers when I get out of the jeep and they see I’m a girl. Well, some things are just much more fun than dolls!
I am one of the relatively few female wranglers in the world. I take pride in my work and the effort I’ve put in to getting to where I am today. I mainly work breaking horses, but occasionally when they need help with the cattle, I step in and act the cowgirl. I also do barrel racing on the weekends which gives me some extra cash. My profession and hobbies bring me endless joy. I love the ranch life!
I recently purchased a new jeep that could tow my small horse trailer between work and barrel-racing competitions. I wanted to show some spirit, so I purchased a horse spare tire cover that I thought best exemplified my own personality. It is a picture of a female rider about to lasso a calf. I love my cowgirl lifestyle and anyway that I can make my possessions speak to my passions, I am all for it. I think I have the best job in the world!
How many times have I seen a Volvo driving down the street with so many stickers attached to its rump I mistake it for a billboard? Too many. I don’t know about you, but I hate bumper stickers. They ruin your paint job and frankly, does everyone need to know every political opinion and affinity for bacon you’ve ever felt? Sure, I like to show my personality on my car like everyone else but, there are better ways of doing.
That’s why I love spare tire covers. I can say who I am and always change it out if I care to say something else later, without having to remove any sticker residue on my bumper. Right now my spare tire says, “Sox Lover”, since its baseball season and I have to show my Red Sox some love. In the winter, I’ll probably switch it out to my Patriots cover. I’m happy to report my paint job is perfect and my car still says what I want it to. Go Red Sox Nation!
Since my father really loves the Chicago cubs, he is always trying his best to make sure that he is showing his support for them. For most people, baseball season is over now that the Giants won the World Series. For fans that are as exuberant as my father, the next season of baseball begins now as teams struggle to secure team members and trade with other teams.
To support his team during this part of the off season, he doesn’t just stop showing off all of his Cubs gear. My father can be seen wearing his Cubs jersey at least a few times during every single off season. He also keeps his Chicago Cubs tire cover on the back of his car year round so that he is always offering some level of support to the team that he really loves.
