When the Western League became known as the American League, the team moved to Washington, D.C. and was known as either the Washington Senators or the Washington Nationals. The team moved to Minnesota after the 1960 season of the MLB.

Originally, Minneapolis was offered an expansion team by the MLB, but the owner of the Nationals wished to move the team to Minneapolis and Washington was instead given their own expansion team, who eventually became the Texas Rangers. The Twins went on to become a very successful team and fans are likely to buy a jersey, a headband, or a Minnesota Twins tire cover to show their support.
